Therapy for OCD
What is OCD?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that causes unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and a strong urge to do something to make those thoughts feel less distressing (compulsions). The thoughts can center on many different themes, including contamination, relationships, harm, morality, or health, often targeting what matters most to you. The issue isn’t the thoughts themselves, but the distress that comes from feeling compelled to respond to them through different compulsions including checking, reassurance, avoidance, or rumination. Over time, this can become distressing, pulling you away from the parts of life you care about most as more energy goes into managing fear rather than living.
